How to split: take a empty hive fill it with frames with strips , about 2 centimeters of beeplates. After you open a strong motherbeehive, put about 3 frames, from the middle, with eggs, out. Change this 3 frames with the stripedframes from the new hive. Close the hives. Put the new hive on the motherplace. Put the motherhive at least 3 meters away on an other place. So a lot of bees will fly from the motherhive into the new hive. In the hive without a queen the bees will make a new queen with the fresh eggs. At my home it works very well. Please try an let us know. The best time to do this is when the colonies are very big and it is swarming time, maybee in the middle of the rainseason.
